FAQs

Every wondered how Jack's Mannequin got their name? What's going on with River Apparel? Who Jack is? Well here we attempt to answer any questions you have about Jack's Mannequin. Still wondering about something? Drop us a line at jmdotorg @ gmail.com

Q. Can you please pass my message onto Jack's Mannequin/Andrew/The band, etc.?

A. I'm afraid we are just a fansite. Unfortunately we have no connections to Andrew, the band or any of their associates. I haven't been able to find a specific fanmail address, but I would suggest you contact them through the official MySpace, although due to what is I'm sure an overwhelming amount of messages they receive I wouldn't expect a quick response, if any.

Q. The download section won't work for me/I don't have permissions to download stuff!

A. The download section requires you to either sign in if you have an account with us or sign up for an account if you don't. Signing up is really quick and easy, and membership is free. We don't pass your details to ANYONE, not even a little bit. If you're still having trouble with a broken download link, just report it or send us an e-mail and we'll fix it as soon as we can.

Q. Where can I find Dear Jack/Katie/For All We Know, etc?

A. In a recent poll there were a few song titles mentioned that many members hadn't heard about. The songs were "Dear Jack", "Hey Hey Hey, We're All Gonna Die", "For All We Know", "Katie", "Get Out Of This", "Diane" and new intros for "Dark Blue" and "Into The Airwaves". These are all available in the download section, either under Live Unreleased or in the Live Concert sections.
The tracks "Locked Doors", "Bonnie and Clyde" and the alternative version of "Doris Day" have never been released or played. For more info please check the comprehensive Discography section

Q. Where did Jack's Mannequin get it's name?

A. In a few interviews Andrew has mentioned a friend of his had a younger brother who was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. He wrote a song about him titled "Dear Jack", and this partly inspired the name. In another story Andrew told an anecdote about how when he was in Philadelphia he noticed that you hardly ever see black mannequins, although he liked the sound of that for a band name, he thought it would be too controversial. He initially was going to call the band "The Mannequins", but felt band names starting with "The" was tired and cliched. Andrew like the sound of Jack's Mannequin together instead, and that's how the name was born.

Q. What is River Apparel?

A. River Apparel is Andrew's clothing brand he has been working on with a few of his friends. Originally announced in 2006 it was scheduled to be released by Christmas that year. Due to the rising popularity and schedules of the band, the label as a whole has had to go on the backburner, however a couple of River t-shirts are now available to buy through the JM merch store online, and hopefully the range available will expand - although nothing has been announced recently.

Q. What is the meaning behind the asterisk?

A. Inspired by a quote from Siddartha "the river is everywhere", the asterisk's meaning is the lines represent life and the things around you, but like an asterisk everything intersects with each other at some point, not only connecting everyone with everything around us, but also a unity with the universe.

Q. Where can I get a copy of the Everything In Transit vinyl?

A. It was once available through the record label's online store, however copies are no longer being produced and the most likely place to get hold of it now is through eBay. They don't come up often though, and sometimes auction off in excess of $150.

Q. When is the Dear Jack DVD being released?

A. In a quote from a recent interview, Andrew said:
"... with [The Glass Passenger] coming out, I wanted people to focus on the music. I’m a musician, not a documentary film maker. I didn’t want fans seeing me while I was sick and then hearing the album. That just didn’t sit right with me, so we decided to hold off for a while. It will probably end up coming out in the spring."
It is likely Dear Jack will be broadcast on TV before a DVD release, however nothing has been confirmed yet.

Q. When will Something Corporate come back?

A. Officially the band is still on a break, and at the moment there have been no plans or dates for a Something Corporate reunion. However as 2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the band Andrew has expressed some interest in doing a special compilation release. But of course there have been no definite plans of any releases or tours.
In case you're wondering what the other band members have been up to, Josh is studying law in the UK, Brian is drumming in the band Steamline and Kevin "Clutch" Page is managing the band Get Back Loretta.

So hopefully that answered a few questions for you, if you're still wondering about something please first try the search bar at the bottom of the page in the forum, but of course we're always happy to hear from you if you send us an e-mail to jmdotorg @ gmail.com
